Welcome from Dr. Pitre, Head of School
Every year, about this time, something affirming and wonderful happens. It’s the school version of Malcolm Gladwell’s now-famous “tipping point.” This week, several teachers and administrators have said to me, “Enough planning—let’s get the kids back on campus!” Every summer, just prior to the beginning of the school year, we reach this tipping point—and having colleagues confirm it always makes me happy. It is indeed time to have all our students back on our beautiful campus.
One colleague (also an FBCA parent), looking at our pristine hallways and verdant green space between the campuses, smiled and said, “It’s too quiet. I’m ready to have our students back here.” In the truest sense, all that we do, all that we prepare for, is to benefit our students. As our mission statement so concisely declares, “Fort Bend Christian Academy exists to glorify God through excellence in college-preparatory Christian education.” All our summer preparations, all our planning, all our professional-development work this summer has meaning because it’s all undertaken on behalf of our students and their families.
In the next several weeks, there will be a number of “welcome back” events and meetings. There will also be “welcome to Fort Bend Christian Academy” events and meetings for our new students and their families.
As my colleague said, it’s time to welcome our students back. We look forward to seeing them, and you, next week. Please keep the entire FBCA community in your prayers as we prepare to launch into the adventure of the 2017-2018 school year.
