FBCA Bands Makes History Again
The 2015-2016 school year marked the first time in school history that the FBCA band placed not only one but two students in the TPSMEA All-State Band. The following two years, the FBCA band continued to place students in the TPSMEA All-State Band. This year, the band made history again.
Freshman Tyler Thompson auditioned for the TPSMEA All-State Jazz Band and placed second in the state on drums.
“Ty has been invited to travel to Richardson, TX in January to meet up with the best of the best students in the state," Aaron Perez, Band Director said. "These students will spend hours rehearsing for a concert in which they will perform on January 27.”
Mr. Perez started a new percussion class this year which gave Tyler more time to practice the drums.
“I love being able start my day by drumming with my friends,” Ty said. “It is awesome that he gave us this opportunity to be separate from the band this year.”
Tyler has been playing the drums for six years. He is inspired by Steve Jordan, John Mayer's drummer.
“I enjoy playing music by Elevation Worship, Hillsong and John Mayer,” Ty said. “I love Steve Jordan’s groove and the creativity he applies to the drum set,” he said.
