Maintaining Balance Between Academics & Athletics
Although he has years of experience playing the sport his family loves, senior Erick Cornejo dreams of becoming a doctor, and thus he prioritizes balance between academics and athletics.
“I have played tennis ever since I could hold a racquet, which for me was about 6-years-old thanks to my father, the tennis coach. I've achieved super champion status and placed third in the TAPPS State tournament. I also received the honor of MVP all 4 years and have been offered the chance to play tennis at the division 2 level by a few universities.”
Erick is involved in Interact Club and Spanish Club, and he is also a member of NHS and NEHS. He is enrolled in multiple AP classes and has maintained a solid GPA through the sport seasons. After graduation, he will pursue his dream of attending medical school at Baylor University. However, tennis will always be a “part of his identity,” and he may play for the Baylor club tennis team.
